The cornea of the eye is one of the few "breathing" organs
of the body. Hence, contact lens must be able to breathe in
order for you not to experience the discomforts that many
people encounter upon wearing contacts. Some contacts are
better for some people's eyes since some eyes are able to
absorb oxygen better. Unfortunately, not all eyes react

contact with lenses.
Since contacts lie directly on the cornea, some oxygen is
blocked from being absorbed. Some people who find that

contacts like soft or flexible disposable contacts. Since
these contacts allow more oxygen to filter through the
lenses, the eye doesn't get as dry. However, these contacts
also allow more light to filter through as well, so the
wearer's prescription must be adjusted for this. Most soft
contact wearers are highly advised to wear sunglasses
outside to reduce sensitivity to sunlight.
A blood shot eye is another condition that appears when your
eye doesn't get enough oxygen. The easiest ways to overcome
a blood shot eye is to not wear your contacts longer than
recommended. Since the cornea has no blood vessels, the
cornea triggers veins around the eye to pump up and get more
oxygen. This response can trigger other conditions as well
such as macular degeneration disease and corneal
neovascularization.
Any time you feel pain or swelling - or for that matter, any
symptom related to contacts - you should immediately let
your optometrist or regular doctor know. Proper cleaning of
your lens should be performed ritualistically. Many
contacts solutions not only clean off naturally collecting
deposits on your lenses but also keep the lens supple and
your eyes moist. Never use your own saliva to clean off
your lens as your saliva can carry lots of infectious
matter. Also, make sure your makeup is fresh so it doesn't
drop into your eye and slide between your lens and your
cornea.

female and 80% wear soft lens every day. While most contact
lens wearers believe contacts look better on them than
glasses, the benefits of wearing contact lenses are only
justifiable if you take good care of your contacts and your
eyes.
